2012 Countdown Kids Hospital Appeal

The 2012 Countdown Kids Hospital Appeal that raises money for hospitals with dedicated children’s areas kicked off in the Waikato today.

Waikato Hospital’s Waikids service launched the annual campaign with staff from Progressive Enterprises and Waikato District Health Board.

From now until December, staff and customers of Countdown, Woolworths, Foodtown, FreshChoice, Super Value and Dick Smith Electronics stores will raise funds for 10 children’s hospitals nationwide – including Waikato.

Since starting in 2007, the appeal has raised more than $4.5 million with more than $500,000 of that going to Waikato.

“We are continually amazed by the ongoing generosity and support shown by the public, and by the amazing efforts and dedication of all of the Countdown staff,” said Waikato District Health Board’s Paediatrics Unit manager Lorraine Reid.

“We have worked closely with them throughout the six years the appeal has been running and know the Kids Hospital Appeal is very special to them."
